Full-time – 40 hour position Flexible hours, some evenings and one Saturday per month required
The Parent Educator will provide voluntary home visits to at-risk children (prenatal-5) and parents, provide parenting and child development information, support families and connect them to resources.
-Provides personal in-home visits with families utilizing the evidence based Parents as Teachers model.
-Facilitates group connections.
-Provides age-appropriate child development screenings.
-Assists families in developing a resource network by linkage to community resources.
-Completes child and family assessments.
-Completes all required documentation/data entry for participants.
-Participate in professional development activities.
-Participate in community events.
-Attend 5-day and 2-day Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation training
-Any other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
-Ability to enter data into a web based data system with accuracy in a timely manner.
-Must be organized.
-Must be able to work with families in their homes in a nonjudgmental manner.
-Must be able to travel.
-Must have a valid GA driver’s license, car insurance and reliable transportation.
-Must submit to and pass background check.
-Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug screen.
Associate’s degree in Early Childhood, Social Services or other related field preferred.
High School Diploma required.
Previous supervised work experience with young children and/or parents.
Spanish bi-lingual required.
