The Family Visitation Center will serve clients that have been referred by Department of Family and Children Services after the child was removed from the home and placed into foster care, relative care, or other placement outside the home of the family of origin or when it has been deemed unsafe for them to be with the referred adult unsupervised. Some of the issues which may separate the families are substance abuse, mental illness, domestic violence, neglect and child abuse.
The Family Visitation Center strives to provide a safe, comfortable, and accessible environment in which supervised visitation opportunities for children and families (involved in juvenile court) can take place.
Supervised parent-child visitations are crucial to the process of bringing parents and their children back together. These visits not only provide feedback to the court on the progress of a family, but more importantly, they allow participants to maintain their familial bond and helps them heal and strengthen, as parents complete goals for reunification.
The mission of the Family Resource Center is the prevention of child abuse in all its forms: physical, emotional, sexual and neglect in Gordon County, Georgia.
